Welcome!
My name is Joe Finch and I am a 16yr old student at St Birinus School in Didcot. I am participating in a school expedition to Tanzania in 2013 with Camps International.
This will be a four-week expedition and will include community development work, wildlife conservation, and an adventure element with me undertaking my PADI open water diving course. The core objectives of this expedition are to undertake projects in order to:
• Raise the educational standards of developing communities within a rural district of Tanzania
• Raise the living standards of developing communities, within a rural district of Tanzania
• Assist with ongoing wildlife conservation programmes to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.
This expedition is extremely important to me because I feel that I will acquire and develop many important life skills such as self motivation & confidence. I am particularly looking forward to helping the local communities by utlising my leadership skills. Moreover I am looking forward to experiencing a new culture and sharing this with new found friends.
I have to raise a lot of money - at least £3,900 - and have started the process of planning some interesting fundraising events, such as an Olympic Games Sweepstake, Fancy Dress Party, Haircut-athon! and a Penalty Shoot Out. However, my first big challenge is the Henley Sprint Triathlon 2012 on Sunday 24th June! More details on all my fundraising activities will be posted here when they are confirmed; so be sure to check back on my events page regularly!
If you're able to make a donation please use my Mum's PayPal account (they don't allow under 18's to have their own account). There's a link on the donate page
I'm also looking for commercial sponsorship and companies offering commercial sponsorship of £50.00 or above can have their logo and a link to their website on my sponsors page.
My webpage will be live throughout the fund-raising period; and after the expedition it will contain reports of my activities and photographs and will be live until at least December 2013.
I would be extremely grateful for any and all contributions you can make towards my fundraising.
Thank you in anticipation
Joe
